An Aluminium base plate for the Olympus 2040

Be sure to read my modding disclaimer here before proceeding.

The idea of an extended base plate was born out of the necessity to attach switches and other stuff to the camera. However, there is one reason that might even be important: By having two perpendicular base plates, one for landscape, the other for portrait orientation, it is possible to mount the camera in its nodal point.
For this conversion I used aluminium from my favourite Do-it-yourself store. I was surprised to find out that the material is of pretty good quality.

This page is not finished and probably never will be, but I show you a picture what the base plate looks like. Maybe you can use it as an idea how to do one.
